We host seven speaker events at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of October, November, February (online), March, April, May and June at Dedham’s Assembly Rooms. At an ‘in person’ evening, there’s a raffle, refreshments and garden magazine swap.
The 2025/2026 programme of talks is kindly sponsored by local business, Bland Landscapes.
In the last couple of years, our December event has become a separate ticketed supper and quiz night. The limited tickets sell out every year as the event has become more popular.
Our 2025/2026 programme is:
- 4 March 2026: ‘Production – plants for all seasons’ with Marc McHearne who spent more than a decade at Beth Chatto Gardens to become responsible for raising plants on the stock beds. He has a huge amount of knowledge that he is keen to share.
- 1 April 2026: ‘Seasonal container gardening’. Andrew Babicz has over 50 years of gardening experience including working at The Royal Horticultural Society‘s Garden, Wisley, Kew Gardens and Hampton Court Palace Garden.
- 6 May 2026: ‘Photographing wildlife in the garden’. Following our Annual General Meeting, award-winning photographer Roger Hance will give us his tips for how we might capture the birds and other creatures with our cameras.
- 3 June 2026: ‘RHS Bridgewater – story of a new garden’ as Maggie Piper shares photographs and stories from watching the Royal Horticultural Society’s journey to develop their first new garden since 2001.
If you have an idea for a speaker or are a speaker on gardening or other horticultural topics, we’d love to hear about it. Email us on dedhamgardening@gmail.com.
